Pursuing a degree via distance learning is fast becoming a popular trend. Shoba Fernandes lists down the popular correspondence courses as well as institutes that offer these courses

correspondenceThe Internet boom and the increasing communication means have brought education closer, with a degree being just a click away. One no longer needs to migrate to a different city or even a different country in order to pursue the degree of one’s choice.
Popular courses

Savithri Ramakrishnan, Centre for Distance Education, University of Mumbai, states, “There is maximum demand for mainstream courses like BA followed by BCom and Master’s courses like MA or subjects like political science or economics. Courses like school counselling, guidance and counselling and basics of dietary skills are too have large number of enrollements.”

Says Savio D'souza, MS in Counselling and Psychology, Enoma Counselling Centre "Distance learning or learning via correspondence is an upcoming means of pursuing studies. Management courses via correspondence are extremely popular among students.” Concurs Srividya, Head-in-Charge, Youngbuzz, “MBA and courses in computers are most popular.” Also, apart from courses in psychology, clinical research and criminal psychology, vocational courses too are the most preferred options.

According to Swati Salunkhe, MD, Growth Centre, apart from a master’s in any specified field, conventional courses like a BA and BCom are also hot favourites. She states that courses like BCA (Bachelor in Computer Application), BBM (Bachelor in Business Management), Diploma in Business Administration, etc are also very popular among students. Courses in travel and tourism like a PG Diploma in Travel and Tourism, PG Diploma in Human Resource Management, PG Diploma in Human Development, PG Diploma in Guidance And Counselling, PG Diploma in Childcare And Development, etc, too are popular.
