Higher National Diplomas in hospitality management courses
Wednesday, August 13, 2008
Avalon Academy will offer the Higher National Diploma (HND) in hospitality management in affiliation with Scotland's Colleges International, a consortium of colleges in the UK.
Avalon Academy is the aviation and hospitality training subsidiary of Global Learning Solutions Company, Aptech Ltd. Avalon Academy is the extended campus for the programme. The academy has partnered with a few colleges in the consortium such as Perth College, Adam Smith College, Telford College and Dundee College.
The HND consists of core and optional units in which the requisite number of credits need to be earned. After completing the HND, a student can gain direct entry into the third year of a degree programme in hospitality (or related field) at a university.
Students have the option of specialising in any of the four main areas of hospitality: food production, food and beverages (F&B), front office operations and housekeeping.
Candidates need to have passed their Class XII to apply for the course. Selection is on the basis of a written test followed by an interview.
The 24-month programme will be delivered partly at Avalon centres in India and partly on campus in Scotland. Students, who proceed to the UK, will have a minimum of three months on the job internship in any part of Europe in the hospitality industry.
All students completing this course will be eligible to apply for two years work visa in UK under the Post Study Work Scheme. Colleges of the Consortium will assist the students in the paper work. Avalon offers placement services to students who fall short of clearance and have completed their initial course at Avalon.
