HRD minister launches ‘Selfie with Guru’ campaign to mark Guru Purnima on July 16

The Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has launched a people’s campaign ‘Selfie With Guru’ to mark the occasion of Guru Purnima on July 16.
In a video message posted on Twitter, he urged students to a take selfie with teachers and post it on social media platforms.
 
“To mark the occasion of Guru Purnima, Union HRD Minister @DrRPNishank today launched a people’s campaign #SelfiewithGuru inviting participation from all to post their selfie with their teachers on social media and highlight the importance of teachers in our lives,” tweets the HRD minister.
 
As per Hindu calendar, Guru Purnima is celebrated on a full moon day. On this occasion, people express their gratitude towards their teachers or gurus for helping them to walk on the right path. 
 
On this day, Lord Buddha’s followers also honour him as it is believed that he delivered his first sermon on this day.
